Weddings at the Guildhall

Contact us about this venue

We are at full capacity for 2022. Due to the possibility of there being vital large scale renovation work to the exterior and potentially the interior of the Guildhall, we will not be taking any bookings for 2023. We are unsure of timescales at this point, so we are holding off on booking any ceremonies for 2024.

Every wedding has a unique story and we will endeavour to help make your wedding day as special as its surroundings.

We understand that choosing your wedding venue is a very important decision, so we encourage you to get in touch to book a viewing of our beautiful Guildhall.

Please note we do not supply a registrar for the ceremony, they have to be booked through the North Devon Registration Office on 03451551002.

Rooms Available to Hire

The Main Chamber is the largest room and can accommodate up to 140 guests. It is the most versatile of our rooms and can be laid out in a variety of different ways.

The Dodderidge Room is a beautiful oak panelled room that can accommodate up to 20 guests. It houses the town silver and other treasures, a truly unique room.

The Mayor’s Parlour, the smallest of our rooms, is a very regal setting, overseen by the Queen herself. It can accommodate up to 15 guests.

These beautiful settings have to be seen to be truly appreciated, so please get in touch to arrange a viewing.

Testimonials

“We had our marriage ceremony at the Guildhall Barnstaple in July 2018. We wanted a venue that was historically interesting and important and Barnstaple was the town where we first met and attended school together.
The organisation for our ceremony was carried out by Megan Sanders. She was always approachable, calming, helpful & knowledgeable. It was so reassuring to have a person willing and able to help us with all our questions.
On the day of the ceremony Megan and her colleague were fantastic. We were in the midst of a heatwave and they had fans for all our guests to help keep them cool. We have some fantastic photos and found the room the perfect size for about 90 guests. The acoustics were great as well for our harpist.
Megan is a great ambassador for Barnstaple Council.”

“Thank you for making our day more memorable. The vows we said were very poignant and moving . We were treated with the utmost respect throughout our dealings with the registration service and the ceremonials team. We are so glad we chose the Guildhall as our wedding venue , what a wonderful experience it was. We will definitely recommend to friends etc. Thank you again for you time and care.”

From Jacqueline & Antony Crisp

“After the tough 16 months, we finally got to have our Special Day at the beautiful Guildhall. Megan went above and beyond to ensure our day was enjoyed by all. What a great asset Megan is for Barnstaple Town Council. On the day, nothing was too much trouble. Megan and her colleague ensured we had a day to remember. We would like to say a special thank you to Megan and will certainly recommend The Guildhall for weddings.”
