Barnstaple Town Council is dedicated to providing activities and events in its heritage buildings which celebrate Barnstaple’s diverse history. We are invested in making these activities accessible and available to everyone in the community.
As well as activities and events provided by the Council, we wish to work in partnership with local community groups, charities, and individuals to make our unique spaces available for use by the community and for the community.
If you are planning an event and you are looking for a versatile and unique space to host it in, please contact us to discuss how Barnstaple Town Council can help you.
We are currently planning some new summer activities and events which will take place at the Barnstaple Guildhall. We would love to hear from you: if you have any ideas for activities you would like to see in our heritage spaces, come and talk to us about them!
Barnstaple Town Council offers regular community activities in and surrounding the Guildhall, including:

Saturday 1st & Monday 3rd April: Two more free craft days were held for families to enjoy making Easter-themed crafts in the school holiday. This is part of an ongoing series of activities that provides free events for families during school holidays, and will be followed by similar events in the future.
Saturday 11th March: We had loads of fun hosting a free Mother’s Day craft event for kids to make cards, crowns, and paper bouquets for their mums. This was our first craft event hosted on a Saturday; if you would like more weekend events, let us know using the form below!
February 4th: Our first conference was held at the Guildhall as part of The Mapping Project: Barnstaple 1640-1660, a joint project with Barnstaple Museum held by Dr. Todd Gray and various speakers. It was wonderful to see the Main Chamber full of people again engaging with Barnstaple’s history. This project additionally saw 8 school classes visit the Guildhall throughout January and February, and lots of enjoyment was had with the giant floor-sized map in the Main Chamber.
Our buildings are also available for private hire.
