Community Grants

The Town Council runs a community grants scheme, which opens for applications in October each year. The deadline for this years applications was the 3rd December 2020.

Grants are generally only awarded to organisations or partnerships which demonstrate that:

  1. The have a need for grant funding. Grants may not be given to any organisation with significant uncommitted funds;
  2. They have, in the opinion of the Council, sound governance arrangements;
  3. They have, in the opinion of the Council, sound financial management;
  4. The grant will represent good value for money;
  5. The have, in the opinion of the Council, sufficient ability to deliver the outcomes anticipated;
  6. They have clear policies on equality and inclusion covering service user, subject to recognised exemptions; and
  7. Most importantly, the grant provides significant benefit specifically to the Community of Barnstaple.

The Council will generally not approve applications from individuals or from commercial organisations.

The Council currently allocates £22,000 each year for community grants.

The Davie Barnstaple Trust

The Davie Barnstaple Trust seeks applicants for grants or part grants of up to £5000 for the coming year.  The trust is set up to help young people up to the age of 25 yrs, but otherwise has a broad remit.  Applications must come from organisations such as (but not confined to) a school or a charity.  Grants are limited to organisations within a 20 mile radius of Barnstaple Town Hall.  Application forms may be obtained from the Secretary: Mrs L Sutton, 4 Hitherfield Road, London SW16 2LN, or from lizziesutton81@gmail.com.

Applications should be with the Secretary by 5.00pm on 29 April 2021.  Trustees meet in the middle of May and if your application is shortlisted you may be asked to meet the Trustees (restrictions allowing).
