As the re-opening of non-essential shops is just a matter of days away, Mayor Alan Rennles and Town Centre Manager Hannah Harrington had a walk along the High St meeting & catching up with many of the locals on the Mayor’s first official engagement of 2021. This was to oversee the measures being put in place to ensure the community’s safety as they return to the town centre from April 12th.
Mayor Alan Rennles said: “Along with our partners we have been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic to support the community and town centre with whatever measures possible. It really is very exciting that this planned re-opening is going ahead and now we just want to ensure that people are kept as safe possible and that this opening back up is a permanent one and not temporary as it has proven to be before due to this dreadful virus.
“We want to thank Hannah and her team for ensuring that everything is in place in time for Monday and to thank our Rangers for their help in getting the High St ready too. We have a wonderful range of shops in Barnstaple and we want to support each and every one of them as best we can.”
Shops open at 9am on Monday unless otherwise stated. Don’t forget to shop local all and to keep safe. Remember to keep two meters apart, wear your face masks, wash your hands regularly and that you can get tested at two sites in Barnstaple, 7 days a week. Barnstaple Town Council and Town Centre Management is delighted to be able to welcome you back.
