Welcome to Barnstaple Town Council

The role of the Town Council is to ensure Barnstaple is a thriving community and a healthy, vibrant and attractive place in which to work, live and visit. The Town Council does this by working collaboratively, not only as an ambitious and committed team of Councillors and Officers, but also with a range of external strategic partners.

Barnstaple Town Council is a parish council, representing the first tier of local government and, as such, is “closer to residents” providing a wide range of services and facilities including the Rock Park, maintenance of green spaces and heritage and community activities.

The Town Council serves a community of approximately 24,000 residents. It consists of 24 Councillors elected for a term of four years who will now hold office until May 2023.

Barnstaple Town Council operates from its head office at Barum House, The Square and its staff and councillors are constantly striving to make the town a better place to live and to work.
